Priesthood

"Brethren, if we truly follow our Lord Jesus Christ, we must embrace a third title: healer of souls. We who have been ordained to the priesthood of God are called to practice “the healer’s art.”" Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Four Titles, General Conference April 2013

"We carry in one hand a vial of consecrated oil for blessing the sick; in the other we carry a loaf of bread to feed the hungry; and in our hearts we carry the peaceable word of God, “which healeth the wounded soul.”7

This is our first and foremost responsibility as priesthood holders—and it applies to both Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthood holders. The restored gospel of Jesus Christ blesses lives not just when we believe it—but much more when we live it." Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Four Titles, General Conference April 2013

"It is beyond my power of thought to imagine all that this promise entails. But I do know it is grand, it is divine, it is eternal, and it is worth all of our efforts in life.

Knowing this, how can we not willingly and joyfully engage in serving the Lord and our fellowmen and living up to our responsibilities in the priesthood of God?" Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Four Titles, General Conference April 2013

"From the scriptures we also know that those who officiate in the priesthood act in behalf of the Lord." Dallin H. Oaks, The Aaronic Priesthood and the Sacrament, Liahona, Jan. 1999

"The Aaronic Priesthood holds the keys of the “gospel of repentance and of baptism, and the remission of sins.”" Dallin H. Oaks, The Aaronic Priesthood and the Sacrament, Liahona, Jan. 1999

"To honor our priesthood, and to magnify our callings in both the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthoods, is to receive the power of God in our lives." M. Russell Ballard, The Greater Priesthood: Giving a Lifetime of Service in the Kingdom, Ensign Sept. 1992

"All priesthood holders assist our Heavenly Father in accomplishing His divine purpose: “to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.”" M. Russell Ballard, The Greater Priesthood: Giving a Lifetime of Service in the Kingdom, Ensign Sept. 1992

"From the time one is first ordained to any office in the priesthood, he should be committed to a lifetime of service in the kingdom of God. Young men should be taught by loving and sensitive fathers, bishops, and priesthood advisers that priesthood means service." M. Russell Ballard, The Greater Priesthood: Giving a Lifetime of Service in the Kingdom, Ensign Sept. 1992

"Brothers and sisters, the power by which the heavens and earth were and are created is the priesthood. Those of us who are members of the Church know that the source of this priesthood power is God Almighty and His Son, Jesus Christ." M. Russell Ballard, "This Is My Work and Glory" General Conference, April 2013

"The power of the priesthood is a sacred and essential gift of God. It is different from priesthood authority, which is the authorization to act in God’s name. The authorization or ordination is given by the laying on of hands. The power of the priesthood comes only when those who exercise it are worthy and acting in accordance with God’s will." M. Russell Ballard, "This Is My Work and Glory" General Conference, April 2013

I haven't had a lot of personal experience with what people usually term as "priesthood power", so finding quotes about the priesthood was really interesting. It was impressive that the prophets and apostles defined the priesthood under the "healing arts", and repeatedly as a calling to service. That is the real power of the priesthood, and the way it has ever been used. Heavenly Father used it's power to create this world for us, Christ's miracles during his ministry were all in favor of others and that is all it has ever been for: to serve others. I feel the need to ensure that I can  use that power, and to be aware of the opportunities to use it.
